Medford Rum: A Tradition Since 1715
Monday, May 23rd, 4:30 – 6:00pm
BCAE – Bay State Room
Spencer McMinn is co-founder and head distiller at GrandTen distilling in South Boston. With a background in chemistry, he has a unique perspective on crafting spirits that has contributed to building GrandTen as an award-winning producer of vodka, gin, whiskey, brandy, and rum. GrandTen is about the love of spirits and the enjoyment of a drink at the day’s end. In this seminar, Spencer will tell the story of how he and GrandTen got to where they are today – and indeed, how molasses, the rum it makes, and people who drink it are vital to understanding America’s history. You’ll learn how and why Medford became known for making the world’s best rum and how New England distillers are working today to reestablish that legacy.
This is a tasting class, expect to taste a selection of rums and cocktail samples.
