Famed “Rum Runner” Bill McCoy used legal loopholes to defy prohibition and confound the US government, becoming a folk hero and importer of unadulterated spirits known as “the Real McCoy.” In the film, Bailey Pryor, The Real McCoy filmmaker and founder of The Real McCoy Rum, explores how an unlikely combination of political forces managed to proclaim alcohol illegal in the United States. Following the screening, Brand Ambassador Josh Perez takes us through the process of producing unadulterated rum, the vagaries of common production techniques, and the labeling tricks of the trade faced by the modern rum consumer.
This class will involve a film screening and a Q&A session.
