Baller cocktails need baller garnishes: you’re not going to put a Picasso in a plastic frame. These days, knife skills aren’t just for chefs – they’ve made their way behind the bar and are helping make craft cocktails Instagram-friendly. Lead by Kevin O’Connor of Persimmon in Providence, RI (also on Instagram @bar_illustrated), this session will teach you to create fun and fabulous garnishes. O’Connor took a unique route to his current role – he started at Persimmon while studying architecture, which means he’s seriously equipped to apply his skill set in technical drawing, attention to detail, and model-building to the frivolous yet essential art of the garnish. His philosophy is simple: an artistic accent can add to the appeal of any drink. You’ll leave the session with a concrete set of techniques and designs you can put to work behind the bar.
This is a hands-on class, please expect to participate in the demonstrations and create your own garnishes.
